How much a dental implant costs in Bucharest: why there is no single correct price
The cost of a dental implant in Bucharest depends on several factors: the implant system used, the patient's bone situation, the type of crown placed on the implant and how many additional stages are needed (for example bone grafting or a sinus lift). This is why a price quoted over the phone or displayed on a website tells you almost nothing about the total cost of your treatment. The only relevant price is the one in a complete treatment plan, drawn up after a consultation and an X-ray, which includes everything needed from the surgery to the final crown. At our clinic, this price agreed at the beginning does not change during treatment, provided the treatment takes place within a reasonable time frame.
From our practice experience, active since 2004 and present at the Șoseaua Pipera location since 2014, most complaints about price do not come from the fee itself, but from surprises: the patient was given a price for the implant, and along the way costs appeared that nobody had mentioned. This article shows you exactly what to check in a quote, so that you can compare clinics on the same basis.
What should the total price for a dental implant with a crown include?
When you ask about the price, what you are really asking about is the total cost of the dental implant plus the crown, not just the implant. The implant is the titanium screw inserted into the bone that replaces the tooth root. To have a functional tooth again, at least two more components are needed, and some clinics charge for them separately.
A complete and correct quote should cover:
- The consultation and imaging investigations: the panoramic X-ray and, where appropriate, the computed tomography scan (dental CT), without which an implant cannot be planned seriously.
- The implant itself and the placement procedure, including the anaesthesia and the materials used.
- The abutment: the connecting piece between the implant and the crown. It is one of the most frequent omissions in incomplete quotes.
- The final crown: what material it is made of (metal-ceramic, zirconia) and whether its price is included or communicated later.
- The post-operative check-ups during the healing period.
Separately from these, the quote must clearly state whether your situation requires additional stages: bone grafting (making up for insufficient bone), a sinus lift (lifting the sinus membrane in the upper jaw) or the extraction of the compromised tooth. These have their own costs and must appear in the plan from the start, not be discovered on the day of the procedure. You can find out more about how the treatment unfolds on our page dedicated to the dental implant.

What factors make the price differ so much between clinics in Bucharest?
Price differences between clinics are not random and do not automatically mean that someone is trying to mislead you. It is useful, though, to understand where they come from, so that you can compare equivalent offers.
The implant system used
There are dozens of implant manufacturers, from premium systems with a long clinical track record to newer, more affordable systems. The price difference between them can be significant. There is no universal answer as to which one is "the right one", but you have the right to know exactly which system is being proposed to you and why, and to receive the implant passport (the document with the serial number and type of implant) after the procedure.
The complexity of your case
An implant in an area with sufficient, healthy bone is a simple case. A tooth lost many years ago, with resorbed bone, may require bone grafting and a longer healing time, therefore a higher cost. This is why, at our clinic, we explain from the start what expectations are realistic for each patient's specific situation, including in terms of cost and duration, precisely so that the agreed plan remains valid.
How many teeth are missing
When several teeth are missing, the calculation is not "one implant per tooth". Two implants can support a three-tooth bridge, and for a whole arch there are fixed teeth on implants solutions that use 4-6 implants. In these cases, the price is discussed for the complete restoration, not piece by piece, and a well-thought-out plan can considerably reduce the total cost compared with replacing tooth by tooth.
The material and the laboratory for the crown
The final crown can be metal-ceramic or fully zirconia, made in laboratories with different levels of technology. The material influences both the price and the aesthetic result, especially in the front area. It is a decision you make together with the dentist, depending on the position of the tooth and on your priorities.
What a correct quote looks like and why the agreed price should not rise along the way
A correct quote is issued after the consultation and after analysing the X-ray, not over the phone. It describes the stages of treatment in order, with the price of each stage and the final total. If there are genuine uncertainties (for example, it is not certain whether bone grafting will be needed until the moment of the procedure), these must be named explicitly in the plan, together with their potential cost, so that you know the maximum scenario in advance.
At our clinic, the working principle is simple: the price agreed in the treatment plan does not change along the way, as long as the treatment takes place within the agreed time frame. This is possible precisely because we invest time in the planning stage: we do not give a "bait" price and then add to it as we go, but a price that reflects everything we know about your case. We only recommend treatments that are in the patient's interest, not the ones that would suit us to carry out, and this is visible in the quote too: if a tooth can be saved with a simpler treatment, we tell you so before we talk about an implant.
At the consultation, useful questions to ask any clinic in Bucharest:
- Does the price include the implant, the abutment and the final crown?
- What happens if an additional stage becomes necessary along the way? Who covers the difference?
- How long is the quote valid for?
- Which implant system is used and will I receive the implant passport?
- Are the check-ups during the healing period included?
A serious clinic answers these questions without hesitation. We have also written a separate article about what questions to ask the dentist at the implant consultation, which complements the list above.

How to plan your budget: stages, instalments and payment options
A practical advantage of implant treatment is that payment usually follows the stages of treatment, which are spread over several months. Normally, you pay for the surgical stage at the time the implant is placed, then for the prosthetic stage (abutment and crown) after the osseointegration period, that is, after the implant has fused with the bone, usually at 3-6 months. The total cost is therefore not paid in a single day.
For patients who prefer additional instalments, there are also financing options in instalments, which you can ask about directly at the consultation. Our recommendation is to make the decision based on the complete plan, with the final total in front of you, not based on the price of a single stage.
One last aspect worth keeping in mind: postponing treatment for a long time can make the case more expensive, because the bone gradually resorbs in the area of the missing tooth and the neighbouring teeth drift. We do not say this to rush anyone, but because we frequently see it in patients who have waited for years: a case that was initially simple becomes one that requires additional stages. If you are considering an implant, a consultation with an X-ray gives you a clear picture of the situation and a total price you can rely on.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't the clinic tell me the exact price over the phone?
Because the price depends on your specific situation: the quantity and quality of the bone, whether an extraction or bone grafting is needed, what type of crown is suitable. Without an X-ray and an examination, any figure given over the phone is only indicative and can create false expectations. A serious price is given in writing, in a treatment plan, after the consultation. This is precisely why we recommend comparing clinics on the basis of complete quotes, not prices given over the phone or displayed on a website.
Does the price of the implant include the crown as well?
Not always, and this is the most frequent source of confusion. Many displayed prices refer only to the implant itself and to the placement procedure. The abutment and the final crown are often charged separately and can represent a significant part of the total cost. Before you compare offers, always ask for the total price for the implant, the abutment and the crown, plus any additional stages needed in your case.
Can the price increase during treatment?
It depends on how the quote was drawn up. If the treatment plan was prepared correctly, after an X-ray and a complete examination, with all foreseeable stages included, there is no reason for the price to rise. At our clinic, the price agreed in the treatment plan remains unchanged, provided the treatment takes place within the agreed time frame. If there are genuine uncertainties, for example possible bone grafting, these must be mentioned from the start, together with their cost, so that you know the maximum scenario in advance.
Is it cheaper if several teeth are missing?
Relative to the number of teeth replaced, usually yes. You do not need one implant for every missing tooth: two implants can support a three-tooth bridge, and a whole arch can be restored with fixed work on 4-6 implants. In these situations, the cost is calculated for the complete restoration, and a well-thought-out plan can be considerably more advantageous than replacing tooth by tooth. The right solution depends on the condition of the bone and is decided at the consultation.
Is a more expensive implant worth it compared with a cheaper one?
There is no universal answer. Implant systems differ in their clinical track record, the precision of the prosthetic components and the long-term availability of replacement parts. For some cases, an affordable system is perfectly adequate; for others, the dentist may recommend a system with specific characteristics. What matters is that you know exactly which system is being proposed to you and why, and that you receive the implant passport after the procedure. We recommend to our patients only what suits their case, not the most expensive option available.
How can I pay for a dental implant in instalments?
Implant treatment naturally extends over several months, and payment usually follows the stages: the surgical stage when the implant is placed, then the prosthetic stage after the healing period of 3-6 months. This way, the total cost is not paid in a single day. For additional instalments there are also financing options, which you can ask about at the consultation, once you have the complete treatment plan and the final total in front of you.
